Thanksgiving Designer Pumpkin Trio

Pumpkins are great decorations that can span Halloween through Thanksgiving! This designer pumpkin trio is a gorgeous addition to your Thanksgiving decor. They are a combination of classic, fun, and fancy all in one trio of pumpkins. You can find blank pumpkins at most craft stores. The Cricut machine does the rest!

Thanksgiving Designer Pumpkin Trio

This Thanksgiving designer pumpkin trio is quick and easy to make using a Cricut machine  (I have the Cricut Maker and I LOVE it). The lettering and designs are too small and detailed to cut by hand, or at least too detailed for ME to cut by hand but you’re welcome to try!

If you don’t know what a Cricut machine is, simply put it is an automated device that cuts out designs or patterns that you create on the Cricut Design Space app (which is very similar to Adobe Illustrator). You can use all sorts of materials – from paper to leather to wood to material to many others – to make whatever you can dream up. I have to say, it’s really cool and fun!

I created both an SVG file and a PDF file (which are fancy terms for the patterns) for the design of the letters. You can get both templates for free by clicking below:

THANKFUL PUMPKIN

STEP 1: Uploading the SVG File for “Thankful” Pumpkin

Download the SVG file for the Thankful pumpkin and upload it into Cricut Design Space. The file will look like this:

STEP 2: Cutting the “Thankful” Pumpkin SVG File

Choose your desired color of vinyl adhesive and cut per the Cricut machine prompts. You can use whatever color and type of vinyl you wish.

PLEASE NOTE: If you don’t have a Cricut machine and want to cut the pieces out by hand, you can use the PDF file as a guide. I strongly recommend using a Cricut machine to cut these letters rather than scissors but leave that option to you.

STEP 3: Weeding the “Thankful” Pumpkin Vinyl

After cutting the designs, carefully peel away the excess vinyl that is not part of the letters or designs from the liners. Be careful not to pull off and of the letters or pieces of the design. You will have four pieces of vinyl ready to be transferred.

STEP 4: Transferring the “Thankful” Pumpkin Lettering and Design to Transfer Tape

Beginning with the “thankful” piece, cut a piece of transfer tape equal in size to the cut vinyl. Apply the transfer tape to the lettering and designs of the same color. Slowly peel away the backing from the transfer tape leaving the lettering and designs on the transfer tape. Carefully apply the transfer tape to the pumpkin, position the lettering and designs where you want them.

PLEASE NOTE: With curved and uneven surfaces, the transfer tape will not lie flat or smooth. You will need to work with the tape to make sure all lettering and designs are positioned where you want them. That may require crinkling of the tape or applying one design at a time.

Next, apply the next color of choice to the pumpkin.

Next, apply the third color of designs.

Finally, apply the last color of vinyl designs.

The Thankful pumpkin is now complete!
