We’ve all heard the term Work Life Balance. We strive to have that right balance between how much time we spend at work versus the rest of our life. Creating Balance applies to all areas – life, family, home, budget, eating, exercise – the list goes on and on. Balance is needed to make the time for the things that are important to us individually. It is also needed to maintain a level of calmness and keep the chaos of life at bay.
What Does it Mean to Create Balance?
So what does Creating Balance mean in practice? It means focusing your energies on the things that are most important to you and keeping everything in line with your own boundaries or limitations.
Creating balance with Losing Weight is getting your eating in line, eating a BALANCED diet, getting enough exercise but not so much that you’re burning yourself out. It’s maintaining the committing to diet and exercise while also living your life and doing the things you love. Many times when I was on a diet I would forgo other things in life that brought me joy like going to restaurants or out with friends because I knew it would be tough to stick to my program. I regret that now and wish I had planned better. I wish I allowed myself to achieve the right balance between discipline and fun.
Creating balance with eating means cooking healthy meals that you love. It’s maintaining the balance between the right level of nutrition with your desired level of enjoyment. It also means still eating the foods that you love or that provide comfort without going overboard.
Your family life demands a lot of your time. Between work, school, activities, sports, homework, you can get spread pretty thin. Remembering to take the time to breathe, spend quality time together, talk to your loved ones, and deal with the issues that inevitably come up over time is important to maintaining the right balance within your family.
Your home is your sanctuary, so why not make it a beautiful one? Creating a happy and beautiful home is something that can be done on any budget and with any level of decorating or DIY ability.
I have decorated the majority of my home through Wayfair, Target, and homemade decorations made from easily found (and inexpensive) items. Creating a happy home isn’t about how much you can spend, it’s about finding beautiful things that you and your family will love.
Creating balance in your home also applies to organization. Having an organization plan is important to keeping the chaos of the home at bay. It’s easy for clutter to accumulate. By keeping up with it, having a place for everything, and getting rid of the things you don’t, you are easily able to maintain the right balance within your home.
Maintaining Balance in Life
Creating and maintaining the right level of balance in life is something that you must work on throughout life. It takes mindfulness to make sure things in your life stay in balance. You may not always be successful but the important thing is acknowledging that but continuing to press on.
